Where to look when doing a reo – surfing

Hey Christo,
I’m having trouble landing my re-entrys. I seem to be having a pretty good bottom turn but as I hit the lip, I always seem to fall afterwards. Do I have to look at the bottom of the wave in order to ride away clean?

Yeah, you need to always look where you want to go;
1. As you approach the lip you look straight at it
2. Right as you get to the lip you start to transfer your weight to your back foot, you look down the wave where you want to go to ride out of the turn
3. Looking down the wave transfer your weight to the rail (rail and tail) of your board and kick out the back foot.
Have fun,
Christo
